Faerie in the Spider's Web by *Sweets-B:iconSweets-B:

The small faerie weaves and bobs through the thick green stems of the wild flowers as she searches for her favorite flower. Every now and then she trails her fingers over the soft and brilliantly colored flower petals. Sighing she swoops down to gently land on the out stretched petals of a gorgeous lavender and yellow wild orchid. It was getting harder and harder to find these flowers but once found the faerie would visit it daily till the petals withered and dropped off to make room for the seeds that would grow inside.
     Gently the faerie takes an acorn cap bowl from her belt pouch and leaning into the center of the flower scoops up some of the sweet nectar pooling at the cupped base. She is lucky that she is the first to arrive at this flower and that it is still so full of nectar. Sipping from the bowl gently she savors the sweet delicate taste that only this flower produces. Then spying the small round pollen balls sticking to the top of a stamen she reaches up and plucks one off and smiling pops it into her mouth. She gives a small moan of pleasure as the pollen melts and runs down her throat. She continues sipping her nectar and eating the pollen till she is full, almost to bursting and the sun is starting to set.
     Picking up her bowl and placing it back in its belt pouch, she lazily flaps her wings getting them warmed up. Taking off she softly hums an old faerie folk tune and heads home. In her lazy contentment she does not see the small flash of web in the setting sunlight as the breeze blows it.
     Looking around disorientated at having hit something.  The faerie tries to get up only to be pulled back down to the stick web she is stuck to. It takes a second before she realizes that she has failed to recognize the warning signs of the danger, she knows she is now in. With every movement the sticky silken treads wind tighter, binding her securely to the sticky web.
     Reaching down to her belt she goes for her wand, only to find the loop empty. Fearing it could have dropped to the ground far below, she frantically looks around. That’s when she sees it, a large spider making its way toward her. Its front legs gently plucking at the silk web strands testing them. Frantic now the faerie looks around searching for any way she might possibly escape this deadly trap. Finally her gaze settles on her wand, which is delicately perched at the edge of a leaf. Reaching out toward it, she struggles against her bindings only to have the very tips of her tiny fingers just nearly brush the wand.
     Turning her gaze once again toward the spider she cries out at seeing how close it has gotten. Turning again and reaching for her wand she shutters at the sickly snap and the sound of ripping flesh as a sharp pain lances through her flight muscles. The tissue paper thin skin and brittle veins of her wings crack and rip. Her small sharp cry causes the spider to pause for a split second before beginning her steady march toward the struggling faerie.
     Reaching through the pain in her back and wing. The faerie’s soft fingers closed tightly around her wand just as a sharp stinging pain shoots through her, radiating from her hip. Turning to look at what caused the pain, her eyes fall on the spider as she lifts her head from the faerie’s hip, pulling her syringe like fangs from the faerie’s soft skin and muscles. A small pearlized drop of venom beads on the tip of one fang before dropping onto the faerie’s skin, where it bubbles and hisses, burning the faerie’s delicate skin like acid. Cursing between screams of pain, the faerie holds her wand high and whispering a few words the tip of her wand flashes causing the spider to skitter back.
     The faerie then turns her mind toward chanting and weaving a healing spell over her wounded body. But it is too late. The time needed to weave the symbols and chant the spell, the faerie does not have. As she tries to weave the symbols in the air with her wand and chant, the healing words the venom courses through her small body numbing and paralyzing her. Already it has reached her chest and she is having trouble breathing. Before she can weave the last symbol and chant the last line the venom races down her arms. She moans as her paralyzed arm drops to the web and her fingers uncurl from around the wand, causing it to drop to the dirt below. She screams for her body to move, but no words come from her mouth and her body dose not react.
     Sensing her prey’s struggles end the spider again creeps closer to the faerie plucking the strands of her web. Once she looms over the faerie she dips her head forcing her fangs deep into the abdominal cavity and pumping the small body full of the digestive acids that renders her meal into a tasty protein rich liquid. The faerie watches in horror as the spider pulls her head up and looking into the faerie’s eyes seems to grin evilly. Knowing her prey can see and feel the digestive juices starting to work, liquefying the organs and even rendering the bones into liquid form. The faerie’s mind races and her breathing becomes labored as she silently cries out for help. But she knows none will save her and her fate is sealed.

This was done after viewing Fairy in the Spiderweb I by and reading his journal entry. I would suggest you visit both

Well, I've already "noted" to you what I think of it (it's well written, among other things). One thing: I find myself wishing that this poor, unfortunate heroine had a name. That's a matter of taste, of course, but I think your story would feel more tragic and less "documentaried" if she had a name. I'm personally not sure fairies have names, but there you go. I'll link to this on the images. Your descriptions are flattering. I'm honored to be part of the first writing you're posting here. =) --Faile35

I thought about naming her but didn't since she is your character. I'm not good with coming up with names anyway X}

No problem. If you do think of a name for her, feel free to throw it in there. Maybe someone else will. "Gelica" and "Tinkerbell" are off limits, though. =) --Faile35

How bout Gwynd? That sounds faerieish.

Gwynd? It has definite potential. Let me chew on it for a while... =) --Faile35

Dramatic.... O_O

I really like it. A bit unrealistic, since spiders (at least the ones I see at home) usually react instantly and leap to attack when sensing vibration on the web, instead of 'marching steadily', but that doesn't matter. It's still a good read. :D :thumbsup:

Dude, loved it! I liked how the spider was cautious, like it had experience with fairies on it's web before, plus it was excellent for dramatic effect.
